Identifying Properties Where Heat Pumps Struggle
Many homes in areas like the dense terraced streets off Ormskirk Road, or older 1950s semis towards Norley Hall, present specific challenges. We meticulously recalculate radiator output for every room at heat pump flow temperatures. We also assess existing pipework for its flow capacity. If a property is particularly draughty, or has a very high heat loss even with reasonable insulation, a heat pump will be working extremely hard to maintain comfort. This is where we might advise caution, as the necessary upgrades to achieve efficiency could be extensive.
- High heat loss properties often need more than just radiators
- Existing pipework limitations can be a bottleneck
- Comprehensive fabric upgrades may be a prerequisite
