What You Can See: Flue Terminations and Siting
When I arrive, the first thing I'm looking at is the flue. Is it terminated correctly? On Ideal boilers, the flue must exit a certain distance from windows, doors, and other openings. If it's too close, exhaust gases can re-enter the property, which is dangerous. I also check for signs of corrosion or damage to the flue itself. Sometimes, in older stone cottages around Upholland Road, flues might have been run in less-than-ideal positions due to building constraints, leading to issues that need addressing for compliance and safety. Blocked or poorly routed flues are a common cause of L2 ignition lockouts.
