Identifying the Root Cause of Hot Water Loss on Baxi Boilers
When a Baxi combi boiler struggles with hot water but heating is fine, the problem typically lies with the plate heat exchanger (PHE) or the NTC sensors that monitor hot water temperature. The PHE can scale up, restricting flow and heat transfer, especially in hard water areas like Atherton. Alternatively, a faulty NTC sensor might be giving incorrect readings, leading the boiler to underperform for hot water demand. We assess these components directly, alongside checking the diverter valve and fan operation, as part of our diagnostic process.
- Lukewarm or no hot water
- Central heating working fine
- Pressure normal (E119 clear)
- No ignition faults (E133 clear)
