Diagnosing Ignition & Flame Sensing Faults
When a Baxi boiler fails to ignite, it initiates a lockout. The most common error code for this is E133. This could stem from several areas: a faulty ignition electrode, issues with the ignition lead, a contaminated or failing flame sensing electrode, or insufficient gas supply. We systematically check each component. This includes testing the electrode resistance, inspecting for carbon build-up, and verifying the gas valve's operation and gas pressure at the boiler. On certain Baxi models, a fan fault can also indirectly lead to an E133 as it prevents the safe pre-purge cycle.
