What we typically find with existing cylinders
When we're on site, whether it's a Victorian property or a 1990s estate in Atherton, the old cylinder cupboard often contains a cylinder with an internal coil designed for high-temperature flow from a gas boiler. Attempting to connect a heat pump to this type of cylinder results in extremely slow recovery rates, meaning your hot water runs out quickly and takes a long time to heat up again. We also often see outdated controls that aren't compatible with heat pump requirements.
- Small coil surface area
- Slow hot water recovery
- Incompatible controls for heat pumps
- Often vented, not unvented
