What We Visually Inspect on Gas Appliances
Before any testing, we perform a comprehensive visual inspection. This covers the integrity of the appliance itself, the visible pipework, and ventilation. For boilers, we check the flue condition, ensuring it's clear and correctly terminated. On cookers, we look at burner caps, pan supports, and igniters for damage or blockages. Gas fires are inspected for any signs of spillage, cracked fire ceramics, or obstructed flues. Crucially, we also verify that all CO alarms are present, correctly positioned in every room with a gas appliance, and test their functionality. Often, CO alarm placement is overlooked or alarms are not tested during mid-term visits.
